Whether your looking a new website or wanting to redesign an existing site, we will work with you to craft a unique and flexible site, one that suits your needs today, and is prepared to grow with you into the future.
How long does it take to build a website?
The length of time it takes for us to build a site varies project to project and can range from a week, to months or even years – it depends solely on the complexity of the project. For most small businesses, a site can be 6 – 8 weeks, for a medium business 12-16 weeks. Many factors will come into play, however we will discuss this at the beginning of the project.
How much does it cost to build a website?
In general, the cost of a website varies from project to project and can range anywhere from $1000 to $500o for a small to medium business. If your a large business though you could expect to pay in the tens of thousands. Because each website has particular needs and goals to suit the business itself, our websites are tailored to your needs.
A website is an investment. As a business, your potential customers or clients will judge you on your website. And like any investment, you should have a clear idea of exactly what you’ll get for your money, and you only get out what you put into it.
What content do I need to start?
This is where our flexibility comes into play. It doesn’t matter if your starting from scratch or have piles of content ready to use.
For those starting from scratch, we will include a couple of ‘discovery sessions’ that will help us collect and build your content. These sessions are a great way to really drill down on your business goals and digital marketing.
For those who have their content organised already, great, we will go ever everything you have and make sure its relevance is really worthy of making your site. We don’t want your users to get bored with masses of text content, so we will format it so it all flows nicely and maintains your users attention.
Why should I use a Web Designer?
Using a web designer can actually save time and stress in the short term – trust me, it can get stressful! But more importantly over the long term, it will save you money and can greatly add value to business.
There are many DIY website building tools out there for basic web design, however they are very limiting in their abilities compared to what is available through an open sourced platform like WordPress. With these limitations, we have seen many sites performing below their expectations, plus their ongoing fees can add up quickly, which over long term, can cost you twice as much. Ultimately, it comes down to how important your website is to the success of your business, and if your time and resources would be better spent elsewhere.
Do I need a domain name before I start?
Yes, you will need a registered and active domain name. If you don’t have one, we can arrange it for you and set it all up so it runs smoothly for you.
Deciding on a domain name can be fun, however there’s a few tips you should know before setting your heart on one;
- A good domain name is no longer than 10-15 characters.
- Keep it relevant to your business.
- Don’t come up with a crazy way to spell it if it’s already taken – people most likely remember it.
- If you do want a crazy one, a good idea is to register other domains people will easily recognise and associate you to and have them pointed to your main domain. We can do this for you if you need.
- .com are 1 year registration, .com.au are 2 year registration so you will need to take this into account if your on a budget. Other extensions are depending on the extension type.
- To register a .com.au domain, you will need to have a registered Australian Business Number (A.B.N) or equivalent.
What is Website Hosting?
In order to publish your website online, your business website requires a web hosting service.
Websites are hosted, or stored, on special computers called servers. When Internet users want to view your website, all they need to do is type your website address or domain into their browser. Their computer will then connect to your server and your web pages will be delivered to them through the browser.
A web host also gives business owners more than just web hosting services. For example, web hosting firms typically employ in-house technicians to make sure their clients’ websites are up and running 24/7. Plus, when website owners are in need of help or troubleshooting (e.g. script debutting, email not able to send/receive, domain name renewal, and more), the web host’s in-house support are the go-to people. A professional web hosting service ensures a hassle-free experience for business owners, so they can efficiently focus their time and effort on their businesses. We are connected to an amazing team of hosting service providers and have instant access to quality support crew just in case something does go wrong.
